The good folks at the Delft University of Technology have been tempering with flapping bots for quite a while now, and their latest achievement comes in a form of a dragonfly-like winged machine that can fly completely by itself. The Explorer is suppose to be the very first of its kind and it weighs only 20 grams.

To fly around without the help of a human - autonomously, the Explorer is carrying To flutter freely without human aid, a barometer, gyroscope, two cameras for eyes, and a microcontroller for a brain. But all the sophisticated parts would not mean a thing without some clever programming so automate the take off and navigation in the air for about nine minutes or until the battery gives up.
