How to set data usage limit on Samsung Galaxy SII

If you are on a certain data plan on your mobile provider, and don't want to exceed it, you can set data usage warning and a limit which can help you save some of your money.

1.

Tap the Menu button and choose Settings.

Menu button is a touch button on the left side of the central Home button.

2.

In the Settings tap Data usage.

3.

Turn on the Set mobile data limit option.

4.

Tap OK.

5.

Now tap and move the lines to set data limit and a warning limit.

Red line represents data limit and orange line represents the warning limit. In my case I set the data warning to 4.6 GB, meaning I will receive a warning message in notifications and I set data usage limit to 5 GB meaning, when I use all of the 5 GB mobile data will turn off and prevent any further data usage. This settings could help you save some of your money.

6.

Tap the Data usage cycle.

7.

Tap Change cycle.

8.

And set when in each month should the data count reset.

Tap Set.

9.

And this is how Data usage warning notification looks like when the limit you set has been exceeded.

The procedure is practically the same on all Android ICS 4.0 phones.

It is also worth adding that the actual data usage might be a little different than the data usage measured by Android system. But in general the difference will be small.
