Sticky notes in Mac OS X

If you're a sticky paper notes user you might want to save some trees and use the Stickies app that comes with the Mac OS X Lion.

  Author: mat | Version: 10.7 (Lion) | 18th March 2012 |

1.

Open the Launchpad in your Mac OS X Dock (see picture).

2.

Find and click Stickies.

3.

Stickies will now open, and you will probably see a couple of existing sticky notes explaining the app.

Let's create a new one.

In the menu click File and choose New Note.

4.

A new note opens. Now just enter some text as you would in any other text editor.

5.

You can change the font, font color, you can copy and paste it and many more.

Let's make a part of the text bold.

With your mouse (pad) select the text you want to then right click it, click Font and choose Bold.

6.

You can resize notes by clicking and dragging one of it's corners.

7.

There are times when you want to attach an image you see on the web to a sticky note, no problem.

Right click the image in on a website in your web browser and choose Copy Image ...

Some images on the web are protected and cannot be copied in such way.

8.

... right click the sticky note and choose Paste.

9.

And there's an image of a smartphone in my sticky.

10.

You can change the note color as well.

In the menu click Color and choose a color of your choice.

11.

You can make the notes float, meaning there will always be on top of all other opened windows.

Click Note and choose Floating Window.

If you want all of your stickies to float above, then choose Use As Default option as well.

12.

If you want to get rid of a sticky note, click the upper-left corner ...

13.

... and choose Don't Save.
