How to Install Windows 8 in VMware Player part 2

In the part 1 of the tutorial we have created a new virtual computer and prepare it to install Windows 8 Consumer Preview or Windows Release Preview, let's now proceed with installation.

  Author: mat | Version: 4.0.2 | 6th March 2012 |

1.

Click here for the part 1 of the tutorial, where we prepare a virtual computer.

Your virtual machine should now boot into Windows 8 setup.

If you get the Windows cannot read the <ProductKey> message (see picture) then go to Step 2, otherwise jump to Step 4.

2.

... Right click the Floppy icon at the bottom of VMware window and choose Disconnect (see picture).

3.

Click OK to close the warning window and wait for the virtual computer to restart.

4.

You should now see Windows 8 setup screen.

Choose your regional settings and click Next.

5.

Click Install now.

6.

If asked to enter a Windows 8 product key, enter the following Windows 8 Release Preview product key:

TK8TP-9JN6P-7X7WW-RFFTV-B7QPF

If you are installing Windows 8 Consumer Preview then enter the following key (the same one as on the picture):

DNJXJ-7XBW8-2378T-X22TX-BKG7J

Click Next.

7.

Choose I accept the license terms and click Next.

8.

Choose the Custom: Install Windows only.

9.

  Proceed with installation ...

10.

... and wait for Windows 8 to install.

It can take up to 30 minutes, mine was finished in about 10.

When installation is finished, virtual computer will boots up once more.

11.

And wait a few minutes for it to get ready.

12.

Enter your computer's desired name (no spaces and special characters though).

Click Next.

13.

 Choose Use express settings.

You can always customize it after installation.

14.

Enter an email you are going to use for your Microsoft account.

Click Next.

15.

Enter your Microsoft account password.

If you don't have a Microsoft Account, a new one will be created for you.

16.

Enter a secondary email in case you forget your password and generate a password recovery help question.

Click Next.

17.

System is now preparing your copy of Windows 8 Consumer Preview ...

18.

... and that's it, you're in!

Pretty crazy looking OS right?
