Boot up Windows 7 installation from USB key

If you have your Windows 7 installation on your bootable USB key or drive, this is how you boot it up.

1.

For the lesson how to create a bootable Windows 7 USB drive, click here.

Put your  bootable Windows 7 installation USB stick into your computer's USB slot.

2.

Now turn on your computer and start pressing F9, F11 or F12 keys immediately to invoke the Boot menu.

It depends of your computers mother board, in some cases it's the F9 or F11 key in others F12. Just keep pressing both keys alternately if you're not sure. If you don't catch your timing, reset your computer and try once more.

In my case I have to press the F12.

3.

If you pressed your F key on time, you should invoke a menu similar to mine.

Use the Up and Down arrow keys on your keyboard to highlight your USB drive and press Enter.

Mine is USB HDD - Patriot Memory (USB 2.0)

4.

And the Windows installation screen should appear in a moment or two.

Just proceed with the installation as per usual.
