A little bit longer but still easy to follow Photoshop tutorial where we will create a random text and set it on fire.

  Author: NikMan | Version: CS5 | 19th December 2013 |

1.

Create a random sized new document.

I have created a document with 1024 x 768 pixels dimensions.

Then click above on Edit and select Fill...

In a new window set Use to Black and click OK.

2.

Document is now filled with black color.

Press D key and then X key to set the white color.

Select Horizontal Type Tool (T).

3.

Set up custom font type and it's size.

I have selected Impact and 130px size.

4.

Click on document and type any word you want.

If you want to move the text after typing it, select Move Tool (V) and drag it around the document.

5.

Press Ctrl (Command on MacOS) and J keys to duplicate the text layer.

Then create a new layer by clicking above on Layer, New and select New Layer...

Confirm the new's layer name by pressing OK button.

Then press the D key to set black color.

Click Alt (Option on MacOS) and Delete keys to fill the new layer with black color (see my pic).

6.

Drag the duplicated text layer to the top on layer's pallete (see my pic).

7.

Press Ctrl (Command on MacOS) and E together to merge layers above.

8.

Click above on Edit, Transform and select Rotate 90 CW.

Click above on Filter, Stylize and select Wind...

In a new window set the same values as I did and click OK.

9.

Press Ctrl (Command on MacOS) and F together twice to repeat the last filter twice.

Click above on EditTransform and select Rotate 90 CCW.

10.

Click above on Filter, Blur and select Gaussian Blur...

In a new window set the same values as I did and click OK.

11.

Press Ctrl (Command on MacOS) and U together to open Hue/Saturation window.

Select Colorize and set the same values as I did and click OK.

12.

Press Ctrl (Command on MacOS) and J together to duplicate the layer (see my pic).

Then set the blending mode of duplicated layer to Color Dodge.

13.

Press Ctrl (Command on MacOS) and E together to merge layers above.

14.

Now click above on Filter and select Liquify...

On a new window press W key to select Forward Warp Tool.

In a new window set the same values as I did and click OK.

15.

With selected tool drag the upper "fire" like I did.

You will have to to take a little time here but I am sure you will create a great final effect.

You can also higher the Brush Pressure (step 14) a little bit to achieve even better results.

Click OK, when you will be satisfied.

16.

Now drag the text layer to the top in layer's palette (see my pic).

17.

Click above on Layer, Layer Style and select Outer Glow...

In a new window set the same values as I did.

Don't close the window ...

Then click on Gradient Overlay.

In a new window set the same values as I did and click OK.

19.

Click above on Layer and select Flatten Image.

Press Ctrl (Command on MacOS) and F together to duplicate layer.

21.

Drag the flipped layer below (see my pic).
