How to boost up colors on a photo using Photoshop

A short, simple yet very useful Photoshop tutorial. Let's learn how to boost up colors on a random photo to make it more attractive.

Open a photo in Photoshop.

This method works very well if you are using a photo of nature with greens, sky or water.

Let's make a copy of the original photo/layer.

In the menu click Layer and choose Duplicate Layer...

Click OK.

Let's add a bit of color to the duplicated layer.

Press CTRL U, to open Hue/Saturation settings window.

Set Hute to 0, Saturation to about 50 and Lightness to  0.

Click OK.

Your colours are already much more intense than before.

In the menu click FilterNoise and Median...

Set Radius to 4 and click OK.

 
 
6.
 

In the menu click Filter, Blur and choose Gaussian Blur.

Set Radius to 3 pixels and click OK

 
 
7.
 

Set the blending mode of the duplicated layer to Color.

And there you are.
