1.

Prepare the puff pastry.

2.

Stretch it and cut it in smaller stripes (see picture).

3.

Take the tomato paste and pour it into a bowl.

4.

Add some oregano.

And stir the tomato paste.

Add a pinch or two of Salt and stir.

You can add a bit of pepper as well if you like.

6.

Now give a spoon full of the tomato paste mix on each strip of puff pastry (see picture).

It should cover about one third of a puff pastry strip.

7.

Take the baking tray and cover it with baking paper.

8.

Let's wrap the pastry up.

First cover tomatoe paste with the first third of the strip (see picture) and cover then cover it with the remaining piece of the strip (see picture).

Press the pastry together on both sides so the tomato paste stays in.

9.

Put the little wraps on to the baking tray.

10.

Take the grated and grate the cheese.

Gauda cheese or similar will do ...

11.

Grate about two first worth of cheese.

Scatter the grated cheese over the weaps of pastry (see picture).

12.

Put everything into the oven and set the temperature to about 356 ºF  (180 ºC).

Wait for about 20 minutes.

13.

Check into the oven a see if your Fornetti turned golden.

Take them out carefully if this is the case.

Use kitchen mitts or dishcloths to avoid the heat and burns.

14.

Enjoy the Fornetti!
